Tri-Stat dX Less Capable defect revision By Zegon Destructacon Return: 1 CP/level or Varies Relevant Stat: Varies Relevant Attribute(s): None Relevant Defect(s): None Progression: Linear, +1 penalty 'slot'/level A statistic represents an equal strength in all areas it represents. Someone with a 6 in body is equally strong as they are fast and tough. However, in some cases this is not true. Less Capable allows a character to be weaker in one aspect of a statistic than others. The value this defect penalizes the character for one aspect of a statistic varies by the importance of the aspect and the dice size of the game. For a major aspect, it imposes a +X/3 penalty, rounded down. So in a d6 or d8 system it imposes a +2 penalty, in a d10 system the penalty is +3, and in a d12 system it is +4. This defect should impose at minimum a +2 penalty and at most a +4 penalty for major aspects. For a minor aspect, it imposes double this amount (before rounding) and then round down, with a maximum of +6 and a minimum of +3. So in a d6 system, this would be +4, in d8 it would be +5, in d10 it would be +6, and in d12 it would be +6. Example aspects are given below. This defect may be taken to higher levels to further penalize one area or to penalize multiple areas simultaneously, or both. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Body - Major Strength, Agility, Endurance Body - Minor Manual Dexterity, Immune System, Running Speed Mind - Major Intelligence, Wits, Perception Mind - Minor Memory, Intuition, Savvy Soul - Major Luck, Willpower, Charisma Soul - Minor Presence, Empathy, Composure -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All Aspects In some cases, a character may become less capable in all aspects of a statistic. This defect may be taken for all aspects of the statistic as well. When this occurs, then this defect returns a much larger amount, but all aspects of the attribute are reduced as if the character was literally one (or more) stat point(s) lower than normal. ACV, DCV, HP, EP, and (if used) Shock Value and Psyche must all be re-calculated with the new values. The return is equal to either 2 CP (in an even stat-cost system) or the amount paid for that value of the statistic (in a varied stat-cost system).
